3 Signs it's Time for a Website Makeover | HIVE Strategy

We spend many hours every week looking at, inspecting, and evaluating websites and we're here to tell you...there's a good chance your website is due for a makeover

We see websites every week that are uninteresting, still have flash elements, and oh man...the websites that automatically start playing music. There are a lot of signs that it's time for that website makeover, but we're going to highlight three of our favorite reasons that it's time.

Here we go...

1. Mobile Phones Hate You

If you don't already know, the world has gone mobile. More than 50% of online searches are performed on a mobile device. According to Techjury, 62% of companies that designed a website with mobile in mind saw increased sales. Going mobile responsive is a no-brainer!

2. You're Being Lapped by a Snail

Does your site take forever to load? Each action should happen almost instantly. The average speed for a website is between 3-5 seconds. Does your website load slower than that? Then it's time to consider optimizing images, decreasing content, decrease the number of requests, and add browser caching.

3. Your Site may have Grandchildren

Web design trends change rapidly and keeping up-to-date with these trends isn't easy! If your site is out of date, you're probably using flash elements, your site is running slow, there's awkward placement, it doesn't work well on a mobile phone, and/or it's painfully boring. By having an outdated website you not only risk customers quickly navigating away from your page, but also decreasing your search engine rankings.

According to a study by ResearchGate, 94% of people say that websites with good designs are more trustworthy. It’s important that your customers and potential customers trust you, and a strong makeover can help make that happen!

If you're seriously considering a website makeover (and if any of the above items apply to you, then you should be) make sure you start your design with SEO in mind! Give our Website Grader a try to find out just how your site rates.
