If you're anything like me, you LOVE your phone and you're always on the lookout for the next best app whether it's in productivity, business, learning, gaming, finance, or anything else. I download far too many apps (wait...is that a thing?) and I've created my list of the 7 best apps that you need to download right now. Of course, I left off the obvious ones like Facebook, Twitter, Slack, Spotify, Credit Karma, and Uber because if you don't have these apps, you probably still have a flip phone. It's cool...no judgment here.
Oh and let me clarify a few things - I'm not really a gamer so this list doesn't include games. And I'm also #TeamApple ALL THE WAY so this list includes all apps that I use on my iOS devices. If you're an Android user - I want to let you know that it's ok to be wrong. ;)
Most of these apps are also available on Android devices. Though you're still wrong. ;)
As a note, none of these apps paid to be reviewed. These are apps that I actually use on a daily basis. Alright, now that I've got that out of the way, let's get to my best apps to download RIGHT NOW!
1. Pitch.Me
Pitch.Me is my new favorite app. It's a great way to connect with companies that you want to do business with and support amazing charities at the same time. Each time you connect with someone through Pitch.Me, you purchase a 15-minute call or video chat by donating to your prospect's favorite nonprofit. They have over 2 million nonprofits to choose from.
From Pitch.Me: pitch.Me is a professional social network, similar to LinkedIn, with the key difference being that if you want to connect with someone you can help support their favorite charity in exchange for a 15 minute, in-app audio or video call.
It's such a great idea and it's also a great way to judge the seriousness of a salesperson. I am no longer taking cold calls, if a cold salesman calls I just direct them to Pitch.Me and if they want to donate to my charity, then I'll give them 15 minutes of my time. Win-win.
2. WTForecast
There's not much that is fun, interesting, or funny about looking at the weather on your phone - that is until WTForecast! You've probably seen screenshots all over your Facebook news feed of the hilarious reactions to the current weather. I have to admit, I'm a little addicted. It's the same information that I can get in the generic Apple weather app, but it is way more fun and always makes me laugh.
3. Fluid
Fluid is an awesome Denver-based app that lets you make extra money by renting out your stuff when you're not using it. Or you can save money by renting something instead of going out and buying it! From board games to cars to tools to electronics, really anything that you need can be rented from your neighbors on Fluid!
Looking for something less practical, but much more fun? There is even a 2016 Tesla that you can rent in Denver for only $249/day!
4. Clarity Money
If you're anything like me, you're probably not that great with your personal finances. I absolutely hate balancing my checkbook and I buy things that I don't necessarily need every once in a while. With Clarity Money, all of my finances are brought into one app so I can see recent transactions, incoming and outgoing cash, invest in Acorns (another great app), spot trends, and even cancel or renegotiate recurring charges. It's pretty freaking cool - especially for a finance app.
5. Duet
So I absolutely LOVE my iPad Pro and Duet is just the icing on top. With Duet I can use my iPad Pro's giant screen as a second screen for my computer. Connecting the two makes working so much easier, especially when I'm away from my desktop and I can still use apps in the background. It's so simple, but it's definitely an app I just couldn't live without!
6. Pigment
After discovering Pigment, I nearly lost my iPad for good to Amber Klein (@amberdklein) because she was in love. Pigment is an adult coloring book that works amazingly well with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil (though it's available on your phone as well and can be done with a stylus or your finger). It's hard to decompress and de-stress after a long day and Pigment is a great way to unwind and relax. We all loved coloring as kids, why'd we give it up?!
7. GoodNotes
So I have to confess, I was really bummed about the note-taking ability of the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil when I first got them. I tried some of the free apps and even Evernote and I was really disappointed. I had notes completely vanish, writing and drawing just didn't feel right, and there was definitely missing functionality. Finally, I broke down and decided to purchase a paid note-taking app and hoped for the best. I did a bunch of research and GoodNotes was the one. Man, it's awesome! I've had absolutely zero issues and everything is organized perfectly. It feels almost exactly like taking notes on paper and there's no lag. I can cut & paste, export, print, draw, add shapes, annotate PDFs and do everything that I need to do with GoodNotes.
