Have you noticed that old school conference calls seem to be a thing of the past, and the video conferences have completely revolutionized the business world?  That's because people like to see other people, they like to see engagement, body language is telling, so the videos help them connect.  Now I know what you're thinking, "Wow Michael, what groundbreaking information that we were already aware of", but let me ask you...why haven't you implemented video into your outbound sales strategy then?

Video emails are the newest sales trend, so to get started I've come up with three points to help guide you in making your first video outreach emails.

Stand Out

If you're sending a video email, you're already ahead of the curve as not many of your prospects are receiving video emails, and certainly not on a regular basis.  To boost open rates; hold up a white board with the prospects name, do a screen-share of their website or product, have a warm and inviting background, and remember to SMILE.

Be Precise

Just like any other email, you will lose engagement by making it too long.  Have a few bullet points you want to talk about, build rapport, and give them a reason to call you back.  If you keep your videos between 60-90 seconds, this makes the content digestible.

Be Authentic

It's obvious when you're reading from a script.  We know when you're faking your enthusiasm.  Embrace the fact you aren't perfect, so your videos don't need to be either.  If you stutter, or pause, or look away, that's ok!  If you are genuine and add that human factor, it makes prospects more likely to connect.

Finally, give yourself a reasonable goal surrounding video emails. My current strategy is simple - create 300 video emails for my top 300 prospects per quarter. Now that might seem daunting, but here it is in a few simple steps.

  • Step 1 - Take a single day and find your top 300 prospects.
  • Step 2 - Create five customized videos per day, Monday - Friday for an entire quarter.  (5 videos per day = 25 per week.  25 per week = 100 per month.  100 per month = 300 per quarter)
  • Step 3 - That's it, there isn't even a step 3.  Take an hour every day to reach out to five top prospects with a video email that is customized, relevant, and specific to them.  That's all it takes, one simple hour.  Spending one hour on five top prospects seems like a pretty good use of time to me!

There are several softwares out there that can help you do this, but we use (and love) VidYard. All you really have to do is add the VidYard Chrome Extension and start creating videos. It integrates directly into your HubSpot portal and will even track when someone watches your video and for how long!

So - what are you waiting for? Your prospects are waiting to hear see you!
